Hanna Stops Four Shots, Thomas Uses Late Goal for NAC Win v. Women’s Soccer

Canton, NY – Victoria Hanna made four saves but a late goal with 2 minutes and 19 seconds left in regulation lifted visiting Thomas College to a 1-0 win in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game on Sunday afternoon.

THE BASICS
  • Result: Thomas 1, SUNY Canton
  • Location: SUNY Canton Turf – Canton, NY
  • Records:  Thomas (3-5-0, 3-1-0 NAC) | SUNY Canton (0-5-1, 0-2-0 NAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neither team found the back of the net as both offenses struggled to get good scoring opportunities in the opening 45 minutes. Thomas held a slim 2-1 shots on goal edge in the first half.
  • Thomas had a great scoring chance with just less than 14 minutes remaining. LaRochelle collected a loose ball in the box but her shot was turned aside by Hanna. Hanna was able to grab the rebound before another Terrier forward was able to get another shot off.
  • LaRochelle would make her second quality scoring opportunity count. With just more than two minutes remaining Brianne Benecke played a ball to Anna Chadwick who fed LaRochelle in on the break. She blasted a shot into the top right corner to give the Terriers the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Sarah Riedel and Paige Gotch registered shots on goal for the Roos. LaRochelle led the Terries with three shots on goal in 55 minutes of action.
