Riedel Ties Game Late; Women’s Soccer Falls in Final Minute in NAC Quarterfinal at Cazenovia

Cazenovia, NY – Sarah Riedel tied the game late in the second half, but Cazenovia's Riley Minor scored the game-winner with just 63 seconds left in regulation to lift the Wildcats past the SUNY Canton women's soccer team in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Quarterfinal game on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Jaylah Cossin gave the hosts the early lead in the 36th minute when she scored off a Dimetria McIntyre pass. Cazenovia held a slim 2-1 shots on goal advantage in the opening 45 minutes as they took a one-goal lead into intermission.
  • The Roos continued to battle and that paid off in the 84th minute when Riedel netted her team-leading third goal of the season off a pass from Caitlin Douglas.
  • The teams looked destined to decide the playoff game in overtime, but Minor proved to be the hero for Caz with just over a minute remaining. Cossin found Minor for her third tally of the season and the Wildcats were able to hold the Roos without a shot in the final minute.
