Late Goal Lifts Cazenovia Past Men’s Soccer in NAC Quarters

Marcy, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team controlled a majority of the play but a late goal lifted Cazenovia College to a 1-0 win v. the Roos in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Quarterfinal game on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roos had a majority of the quality chances in the opening half owning a 6-2 shots on goal advantage but Cazenovia keeper Andrew McLean was up to the task stopping all six shots to keep the game tied at intermission.
  • Both teams had only one shot on target each through the opening 35 minutes of the second half.
  • Zach Schlacther provided the heroics for the Wildcats scoring the eventual game-winner in the 81st minute off a pass from Vincent Manco.
  • The Roos had three shot attempts over the final five minutes but were unable to find the equalizer.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • SUNY Canton held the upper hand in shots (18-6), shots on goal (7-4) and corner kicks (2-1).
  • Jason Meneses made three saves in the loss for the Roos, while McLean turned aside seven shots in the win.
 This concludes the 2021 season for the SUNY Canton men's soccer team.
