HOW IT HAPPENED
  • UNE had a quality scoring chance with nine minutes remaining in the first period when Kyra Yu skated in on a breakaway but Brooke Susac made the save. The Nor'easters generated another quality chance when Meghan Hamilton's shot was saved in the low slot.
  • Jessica Pele and Alexa Parigi had a golden 2-on-1 chance with just more than two minutes left in the first but Pele's shot went just high and wide right. The teams skated to first intermission scoreless as UNE held an 11-6 shots advantage.
  • The Nor'easters got on the board first at the 11:28 mark of the second a failed Roos clearance attempt. Julianne Sheehan skated in and her initial shot was saved by Susac but she put home the rebound into the left side of the net.
  • UNE doubled its lead three minutes later when Jenna Pych skated with the puck behind her own net and hit Kyra Yu alone at the Nor'easter's offensive blue line. She skated in on the breakaway and slipped the puck between the five-hole of Susac. The Nor'easters held a 2-0 lead and 22-12 shots advantage after two.
  • UNE was whistled for a tripping penalty midway through the third and Canton generated three shots with two from Noelle Niemiec and one from Lily Cullen but were unable to break through.
  • The Roos pulled the goalie with 2:20 remaining in favor of the extra attacker. Kosnaskie and Niemiec both had shots saved by Julia Benjamin in the first minute with the extra skater. Niemiec added an additional shot with 30 seconds remaining but the Nore'asters were able to stave off the comeback attempt.
  • Susac turned aside 26 shots, while Benjamin made 25 stops in the shutout for UNE.
