Lewis Scores First Collegiate Goal in Setback v. Mustangs

Canton, NY – Verity Lewis scored her first collegiate goal but the SUNY Canton women's hockey team fell, 4-1, to visiting Morrisville State in Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) action on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neither team found the back of the net in the opening period as Brooke Susac made 13 first-period saves to keep the game scoreless after 20 minutes.
  • Morrisville opened the scoring at 10:42 of the middle period on the power play when Alexziz Giannamore lit the lamp for the third time this season.
  • Alana Palameta gave the Mustangs a two-goal advantage on her first goal of the season, an unassisted tally at 6:07 of the third period.
  • Lewis cut the deficit in half as she sniped a shot top shelf past Mustang goaltender Adriana Harman at the 9:39 mark. Sarah Kosnaskie and Ashley Gillies earned helpers on the play.
  • Madalyn Box scored her first of the season to regain the two-goal edge at 12:05 and Giannamore added her second of the game and fourth of the season for the 4-1 final.
  • Morrisville finished 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Roos were 0-for-3.
  • Brooke Susac made 25 saves in the loss for the Roos, while Harman made 17 stops for the Mustangs.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Roos are off until December 6th when they host Oswego State in NEWHL action at 4 p.m. at the Roos House.
