Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's hockey team features 21 student-athletes as it includes 13 returners coupled with eight new players.
The team opens its first season in the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) on the road on Friday and Saturday at SUNY Cortland and Morrisville State, respectively.
SUNY Canton voted to finish in sixth place out of the seven team league (14 points) in their first season in the conference. Plattsburgh State, who has won five of the last six NCAA Division III national championships, received all seven first-place votes for 49 points. Cortland (34), Oswego (33) and Morrisville (32) rounded out the top four.
The Roos welcome the Red Dragons (11/8) and Buffalo State College (11/9) for the team's home-opening weekend. To view the full schedule release for the upcoming season click

The team returns its starting goaltender from last season in
Brooke Susac (10-11-5) who posted a 1.92 goals against average and .923 save percentage.
Kayla Lauzon (1 appearance) also returns in her second season with the Roos.
SUNY Canton welcomes eight newcomers to the roster including one familiar face in
Alyssa Hein, who was a member of the Roos during her freshman (2016-17) and sophomore (2017-18) seasons. The new players to this year's team also include seven freshman. The eight players contain four forwards, three defenseman and a goaltender.
