Canton, NY – Junior Brooke Susac stopped all 19 shots she faced and Jessica Pele scored a first period goal as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team earned a 1-0 shutout win v. visiting Nichols College in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action on Friday in the Roos House.

The Roos improve to 2-2-1 overall and 2-1-0 in CHC play, while the Bison drop to 3-2-0 and 1-2-0.

Jessica Pele got the Roos on the board at 8:52 of the first period off a Nichols defensive zone turnover. The senior captain snuck the puck between the five-hole of Bison goaltender Cassandra Goyette. Canton held an 11-6 shots on goal advantage but Nichols went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill to keep the game within one at first intermission.  
 
Neither team found the back of the net in the second period as the teams skated to second intermission with the Roos leading 1-0. SUNY Canton continued its strong play down the stretch and with the Bison on the power play with 1:15 left in the third period they pulled their goalie for the extra skater and the 6-on-4.

Ashley Gillies blocked a shot, Susac stopped a shot and Noelle Niemiec hit the right post narrowly missing an empty-netter as SUNY Canton earned the tough conference win.

Susac finished with 19 saves, while Goyette made 21 stops for the Bison. Both teams went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
