Castine, ME – Mouhammed Thiam made five saves but Josh Emard scored the lone goal in the 67th minute to lift second seeded Thomas College past fifth seeded SUNY Canton in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship match on Sunday afternoon.
The Terriers improve to 14-4-1 overall and earn the NAC's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament, while the Roos conclude their season at 9-10-2.
Neither team found the back of the net in the opening half as the Terriers held a slim 3-2 shots on goal advantage.
Pedro DeSouza and
Josh Geller had the first half shots on targets for SUNY Canton.
Kyle Smith had the lone shot on goal in the second half as Thiam stopped two of the three shots he faced. Emard's goal proved to be the difference.
Thiam finished with five saves, while Jonathan Dutka recorded three saves in the shutout.
