Marshfield, MA – The SUNY Canton women's hockey team has secured the three seed in the upcoming Colonial Hockey Conference playoffs and will host a quarterfinal match-up on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. against Becker College in the Roos House.
SUNY Canton finished the regular season 7-4-1 in conference play, while the Hawks recorded a 2-10-0 record in the CHC. This sets up a rematch of the 2016 quarterfinal where Becker edged SUNY Canton, 1-0, after a 43 save shutout from Madison Rigsby.
This season the Roos (13-10-2 overall) swept the Hawks (8-15-2 overall) by scores of 4-2 and 5-1 at home on February 4th and 5th. Live stats and video will be available for Saturday's quarterfinal contest by visiting the women's hockey schedule page.
The Roos finished the regular season in a tie for third place in the conference standings with Stevenson (7-4-1) but win the tie breaker based off a 1-0-1 head-to-head record v. the Mustangs this weekend.
The No. 1 seed Endicott College (11-1-0) and No. 2 seed Morrisville State (8-4-0) will receive first round byes into the semifinals. Third seeded SUNY Canton will host sixth seeded Becker College, while fourth seeded Stevenson University hosts fifth seeded Johnson & Wales, also on Saturday.
The winners of Saturday's quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals on Saturday, March 4th with the winners squaring off for the Colonial Hockey Championship on Sunday, March 5th. The semifinals and finals will be hosted by Endicott College.
