Wakefield Stops Five Shots on Senior Day

Box Score Canton, NY – Dannielle O'Buckley scored the game-winner 16 seconds into the second half to lift visiting Alfred State to a 1-0 win v. the SUNY Canton women's soccer team on Saturday.

Alfred State held a 7-0 shots advantage in the opening half but Allison Wakefield stopped the only shot on target she faced as the teams played to a scoreless tie at intermission.

The Pioneers (9-3) broke the tie just 16 seconds out of halftime as Melissa Mineti found Dannielle O'Buckley for her sixth goal of the season.

Shots were much more even in the second half with the Pioneers holding the slight edge, 8-6. The Roos posted three shots on goal but were unable to find the equalizer.

Wakefield recorded five saves for SUNY Canton (5-10), while Allison Danielak made three saves in the shutout for Alfred State.

The Roos honored their six graduating student-athletes Victoria Bean, Taylor Saltus, Kristina DiNardo, Bailey Grace, Katie Lamica and Rebecca DiNardo in a pre-game ceremony.
