Men’s Soccer Battles in Route 11 Rival v. Clarkson

Canton, NY – Visiting Clarkson University scored a pair of goals 75 second apart late in the first half to earn a 3-0 victory against the SUNY Canton men's soccer team on Tuesday evening.

After back-and-forth play much of the first half the Knights struck quickly with goals from Henry Gomez and Chris Jupin. At the 37:19 mark Justin Packard fed a ball up to Gomez who took the pass in stride and beat Roo keeper Austin Lamay (Malone, NY) into the lower left corner. Just 75 seconds later Kevin Calnan played a ball in to Jupin from left to right. Lamay came out to challenge him as he slipped the ball just to the left of Lamay into the right side of net.

Clarkson took a 2-0 lead into intermission holding edges in shots on goal (7-1) and corner kicks (13-3) over the first 45 minutes.

The Roos recorded a pair of shots on goal and held a 3-2 edge in corner kicks after intermission but Clarkson added a late goal in the 88th minute from the foot of Eric Herberger on Kevin Calnan's second assist of the night leading to the 3-0 final.

Lamay made six saves for the Roos, while Michael King turned aside four shots for the Knights.
