Canton, NY – Tyberia Wallace (Harlem, NY) doubled her career-high in points with 12 as the SUNY Canton women's basketball team never trailed earning a 72-28 victory against visiting Vermont Tech on Sunday afternoon in the Roos House.
The Roos (7-13) jumped out to a quick 17-8 lead following the first quarter. SUNY Canton held the Knights without a field goal for the first 6:46 of the second quarter taking a commanding 33-14 lead into intermission.
Logan Tallman (Heuvelton, NY) led the offense with 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting including knocking down both of her three-pointers in the opening half. Caselynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) posted eight points and five boards, while
Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) added seven points. Mikaela Farmer led the Knights (4-19) with six points.
SUNY Canton cruised emptying the bench in the second half on its way to the convincing victory. The Roos held a 46-30 edge on the glass including hauling down 20 offensive rebounds which led to 10 second chance points. The hosts also held the upper hand in points off turnovers (27-3), bench points (29-2), points in the paint (40-14) and fast break points (16-0).
Laroche led four Roos in double figures with 13 points and eight rebounds. Wallace, Tallman and Fulton chipped in 12 points apiece.
Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) dished out a game-high six assists to go with her seven points and three steals.
Shana Linwood-McLaughlin led Vermont Tech with 12 points, while Farmer added eight points.
