Women’s Hockey Closes out Weekend with CHC Split v. Hawks

Marlborough, MA – Host Becker College scored once each in the first and second periods to secure a 2-0 Colonial Hockey Conference victory against the SUNY Canton women's hockey team on Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Pitcher had a hand in both goals, assisting a Gina Beth Manganiello goal 14:51 into the first and later scoring shorthanded with 3:57 remaining in the second to lift the Hawks (3-17-0, 3-7-0) CHC to victory.

Madison Rigsby stopped all 35 shots she faced in the shutout for Becker, while Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) turned aside 13 shots for the Roos (5-15-1, 5-4-1 CHC).

Jessica Pele (Estevan, SK) paced SUNY Canton with five shots on goal, while Margret Troiano (Morristown, NY), Logan Conger (Tyendinaga, ON), Grace Page (Buffalo, NY) and Rhea Coad (Wheatfield, NY) challenged Rigsby four times each.

The women's hockey team will host Johnson & Wales University for a Colonial Hockey Conference series next Friday and Saturday in the Roos House. Puck drops are set for 4 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
