Morrisville, NY – Jessica Pele (Estevan, SK) scored her team-leading third goal of the season but the SUNY Canton women's hockey team was unable to overcome a four goal deficit in a 4-1 loss at Morrisville State College on Friday evening.
With the win the Mustangs improve to 5-0-0 overall and 3-0-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference play, while the Roos drop to 2-1-0 and 0-1-0.
Kaitlyn Schlake was the recipient of a Renee Stevenson pass as the Mustangs got on the board with the skater advantage 3:54 into the opening period. They took the one goal advantage into the first intermission.
Ciara Lark and Maddison Devlin added Morrisville goals in the middle period to open up a three goal edge. Megan Kirk added an insurance marker at 16:01 of the third before Pele got the Roos on the board with 1:47 remaining off a pass from
Margret Troiano (Morristown, NY).
Brooke Susac (Bowmanville, ON) turned aside 36 shots including 28 over the final 40 minutes, while Renee Schmaltz stopped 19 of the 20 shots she faced on the evening.
