Saratoga Springs, NY – The SUNY Canton men's soccer team scored once to get within one but host Skidmore College earned a 5-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The Thoroughbreds (2-1) jumped out to a quick start as Mario Hyman scored off a throw-in just 1:13 into the contest. Skidmore made it 2-0 in the 26th minute when Augustine Okoye found Will Berg who buried a shot from inside the box.
The Roos (0-5) got one back in the 33rd minute when a long
Tyler Gallagher (Potsdam, NY) shot attempt was directed into the back of the net of the head of a Skidmore defender.
Skidmore regained a two-goal lead at the 42:00 minute mark when Nick Masiero set up Kevin Santos. The hosts led 3-1 at intermission.
The Thoroughbreds added three second half scores en route to the 5-1 victory.
Austin Lamay (Malone, NY) made five saves over the first 75:45, while
Patrick Anunziatta ( (Schenectady, NY) stopped four shots without allowing a goal over the final 14:15. Danny Ebenstein turned aside four shots for Skidmore.
