Adams Reaches Double Digit Goals as Roos Close out Weekend v. Nor’easters

CHS BOX SCORE

Biddeford, ME – Freshman Tess Adams scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season but the women's hockey team closed out its weekend with a 3-1 loss to host University of New England on Saturday afternoon.

The Nor'easters (5-4-1), winners of four straight, got the scoring started midway through the opening period when Haley Gorman tipped in a shot from Melissa Boudreau for her second goal of the season. SUNY Canton (4-7-1) found the equalizer at 16:34 of the period when Tess Adams (Calgary, AB) tallied her 10th of the season off passes from Kat McNeilly (Scarborough, ON) and Anna Lagzdina (Ozolnieki, Latvia). Adams poked home the puck after a scramble in front of the cage.

UNE took the lead for good at 14:38 of the middle period when Gabby Crugnale stuffed home a rebound off a shot from the blue line by Shannon Smith. Annie Mullen added an insurance goal for the Nor'easters at 12:28 of the third.

Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) tallied 32 stops on the day for the Roos as SUNY Canton's penalty kill went a perfect 7-for-7. Sydney Helmbrecht made 22 saves for UNE.

The women's hockey has nearly one month off before it returns to the ice in 2016 in the Codfish Bowl hosted by UMass Boston. The Roos square off with the Beacons on January 4th at 1 PM.
