Anna Lagzdina (Ozolnieki, Latvia) and
Logan Conger (Tyendinaga, ON) each scored twice as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team closed out a perfect weekend sweep with an 8-1 victory against Daniel Webster College on Saturday afternoon at UMass Lowell.
The win improves the Roos to 2-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference play, while the loss drops the Eagles to 0-3-0 and 0-2-0 in the CHC.
SUNY Canton opened the scoring with two goals in a 42 second span from the sticks of Lagzdina and Adams. The Eagles got within one with just 37 seconds left in the opening period on a Kennedi Scharpegge tally as the Roos led 2-1 after one.
The Roos exploded for four goals in the middle period as
Hannah Brady (Jeannette, PA) and Lagzdina bookended a pair of Conger tallies. Adams added a pair of power play scores in the final frame to complete the hat trick for the 8-1 final.
Rebecca DiNardo (Ottawa, ON) turned aside 12 shots in her first victory of the season, while Ariana Kresic made 41 saves for the Eagles.
