Canton, NY – Three players scored in double figures led by a pair of double-doubles but the SUNY Canton women's basketball team dropped a 69-58 decision to visiting D'Youville College on Sunday afternoon in the Roos House.

The teams were tied at 4-4 early but D'Youville used an 8-0 run spurred by three points each from Jean-Ann Korona and Shannon Dougherty. The Spartans led 29-10 after one period but SUNY Canton battled back to get within 38-28 as the visitors took a 42-30 lead into intermission.

Taylor Saltus (Clintonville, NY) and Caseylynn Fulton (Saint Cloud, MN) paced the Roos with 10 points each in the opening half as the duo combined to shoot 8-for-17 from the field. Tatiana Laroche (Elmont, NY) added four points and six boards in the opening 20 minutes.
Dougherty led the Spartans (3-3) with 10 points, while Korona added eight in the scoring column. D'Youville was effective from long distance shooting 5-for-11 from behind the arc in the opening half.

The Roos (1-3) got within six points at 64-58 with 3:26 remaining but Alexis Smith knocked down back-to-back jumpers to help the Spartans secure the 69-58 victory.

Saltus led the Roos with a game-high 16 points, while Brianna Sayer (Hermon, NY) added nine points. Fulton and Laroche both posted double-doubles for SUNY Canton. Fulton finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Laroche added 10 points and 11 boards.

Smith (16), Dougherty (15) and Sarah Marino (10) all scored in double figures for the Spartans. D'Youville held the edge in second chance points (14-5) and bench points (21-10), while the Roos held a 43-37 advantage on the glass.
