Men’s Soccer Closes out Season v. Cardinals

Canton, NY – Patrick Anunziatta (Schenectady, NY) made seven saves as the SUNY Canton men's soccer team was in the match throughout but dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Plattsburgh State on Tuesday evening.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net over the opening 45 minutes of action. Plattsburgh held the edge in overall shots at 14-4. However, the Roos placed all four of their shots on goal, while the Cardinals finished the opening half with two shots on target.

Jules Ngadula (Manlius, NY) led the Roos with two shots on goal, while Tyler Cook (Antwerp, NY) and Edward Malinoski, Jr. (Evans Mills, NY) added one apiece.
The Cardinals nearly broke the tie 1:15 out of intermission as Fabian Chaparro rang a shot off the cross bar and Jonathan Gamboa followed with a rebound shot that went wide.

Plattsburgh took advantage in the 59th minute for the opening goal on a defensive third turnover from the Roos. Alexis Archilla intercepted the pass and played a beautiful through ball in tight space left to right to Chaparro who finished into the left corner of the net.

SUNY Canton responded a minute later as Tyler Gallagher (Potsdam, NY) ripped a shot just wide right. Hunter Mowery (Elizabethtown, NY) took a free kick minutes later that started right of the far post and bent back just wide.

Chaparro added his second of the game and fourth of the season in the 86th minute off a rebound after Anunziatta made the initial save on an Archilla shot.
Anunziatta made seven saves in net for the second consecutive match, while Mitchell Jordon turned aside six shots for the Cardinals.
