Clinton, NY – Maddy Hetman (Troy, NY) scored her first career goal on Tuesday evening but the women's hockey team fell to host Hamilton College, 4-2.
 
Hamilton (5-6-2) secured the momentum from the start finding the back of the net just 53 seconds in on their first shot of the game. Megan Fitzgerald netted her third of the year off passes from Jill Tokarczyk and Stephanie Lang. The Continentals converted on the power play at the 6:02 mark when Katie Parkman beat an opposing goaltender for the sixth time of the season. Fitzgerald and Teal Gosselin were credited with assists on the play as Hamilton led 2-0 after one.
 
The Roos (6-12-2) made great use of their first power play opportunity of the night taking just 11 seconds to cash in on the skater advantage. Dana Morrison (Wemindji, QUE) took a shot from the point that went wide right and caromed off the boards right to Bernadette O'Connell (Buffalo, NY) who quickly picked up the puck and lifted it over the pads of Hamilton goaltender Sarah Schuchardt.
 
The Continentals responded as they used a stroke of good fortune to break through. Parkman came out of the penalty box and it immediately turned into a 2-on-1 with her and Lang skating into the offensive zone. Parkman played a give-and-go to Lang on the left as Parkman received the one-time pass back and beat Shayna Dominique (Mistissini, QUE) over the glove to make it 3-1 Hamilton. The Continentals made it 4-1 on a late power play goal at the 18:02 mark on Gigi Fraser's team-leading eighth of the year to give the hosts a three-goal edge after two.
 
The Roos got within two at the 6:08 mark of the third period when Hetman scored an unassisted goal, the first of her young career, as she beat Schuchardt five-hole to make it 4-2. SUNY Canton applied pressure late but the Continentals held on for the victory.
 
Dominique made 36 saves on the night, while Schuchardt stopped 10 shots for Hamilton. The hosts were 2-for-5 on the power play, while SUNY Canton was 1-for-4 with the extra skater.
