Reisterstown, MD – Shayna Dominique (Mistissini, QUE) stopped 29 shots but it was not enough as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team was held scoreless in a 4-0 road loss to Stevenson University. The Roos drop to 0-2, while the Mustangs improve to 2-0.
Molly O'Neil got the scoring started 4:53 in when she beat Dominique for the early lead. McKenzie Taggart and Emma Sunness were credited with assists on the play. Stevenson outshot the Roos 8-4 in the opening period taking the 1-0 lead into intermission.
SUNY Canton doubled its shots on goal in the second period challenging Sarah Modzelewski eight times but she was able to turn aside all of the attempts. Meanwhile, the Mustang offense added a second goal with two minutes left in the second period.
Stevenson added two third period scores from Taggart, one on the power play and one short handed to prevail 4-0. Dominique finished the game with 29 saves including 11 in both the second and third periods, while Modzelewski stopped all 15 shots she faced for the shutout.
