Cree Scores Lone Goal as Roos Tie Chatham 1-1

Fox Chapel, PA –  Karley Cree (Hogansburg, NY) netted her third goal of the season and Bernadette O'Connell (Buffalo, NY) tallied her first career point as the SUNY Canton women's hockey team tied host Chatham University, 1-1, in overtime Friday evening. The Roos move to 1-2-2 on the season, while the Cougars now sit at 2-1-2.
 
Casey Morfield got the scoring started 12:49 into the first period off passes from McKenzie Haskins and Katrina Hawkins. Chatham led 1-0 after the first period as they held a 12-7 shots on goal edge in the opening period.
 
The Roos responded just over three minutes into the second period when O'Connell found Cree for her third score of the season to knot the game at one apiece. The teams played the rest of regulation scoreless as they headed to overtime.
 
SUNY Canton dominated play in the extra session holding a 5-0 shots on goal edge but was unable to put the puck past Cougar net minder Tara Treloar. Shayna Dominique (Mistissini, QUE) was impressive in net once again for the Roos stopping 28 shots, while Treloar turned aside 23 shots for the hosts.
