Terrance Goal and Assist Leads Roos Past Badgers

Box Score

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's soccer team controlled the contest from start to finish as they defeated visiting Johnson State College, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon. The win improves the Kangaroos to 6-7, while the Badgers fall to 5-7 on the season.

SUNY Canton took control of the game from the start scoring just 10:06 into the contest. Karyss Terrance (Hogansburg, NY) took the ball down the right sideline and served a ball into the box where Franchesca Trombley (Dekalb Junction, NY) stood at the far post and finished past Badger keeper Amber McCullock.

In the 24th minute the Roos had another golden chance to score as Terrance made some nifty moves to get her defender turned around and fired a shot that was saved by Bullock. Two minutes later Terrance would get redemption as she received a pass from Katlyn Hart (Harrisville, NY) and played a perfect shot into the top left corner just under the cross bar to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.

The opportunities continued to build up for the Roos 10 minutes later when Hart struck a ball off the left goal post that was cleared by the defense. Five minutes later Karley Cree (Hogansburg, NY) took a corner kick from the left side and spun the ball in toward goal where it clanged off the middle of the cross bar.

The Roos controlled play in the opening half holding large advantages in shots (14-2), shots on goal (7-2) and corner kicks (3-0). SUNY Canton took a 2-0 lead into intermission.
The hosts continued to poor on the pressure in the second half. The Roos tallied their third score of the contest when Tressa Goolden (Canton, NY) fed Hart in on a breakaway and she calmly shot the ball off the inside of the right post for the 3-0 lead.
SUNY Canton controlled play throughout as numerous other chances just missed. Hart had several opportunities to score but McCullock was up to the task stopping her shot attempts. In the 58th minute Cree nearly tallied her first goal of the game as she ripped a shot from 20 yards out, but it caromed off the crossbar once again.

The Roos dictated the pace of play throughout the day dominating in shots (24-4), shots on goal (14-3) and corner kicks (7-2). Brittany Rotach (Brasher Falls, NY) made three stops for her sixth win and fourth shutout of the season. McCullock made 11 saves on the day for the Badgers.
