(Canton, N.Y.)- SUNY Canton is pleased to annouce they are adding women's ice hockey as an intercollegiate sport in the 2012-13 academic year.
The addition of of women's ice hockey brings to the total number of sports offered at the college to 14: seven for women and seven for men. It is also the fifth new athletic program the college has started in the past year joining men's golf, women's volleyball and men's and women's lacrosse this year.
SUNY Canton is currently in their exploratory year of becoming an NCAA Division III institution and are exploring several areas for the women's team to compete in during their inaugural season. A women's club team was started this season under the guidance of assistant athletic director and former men's ice hockey coach
