Barr was impressive stopping all 34 shots he faced in a 2-0 shutout as the men’s hockey team picked up their first victory of the season defeating Fredonia State on the road. The junior stopped 10 shots in the opening period as two Roo power play markers in the final 23 seconds of the period gave SUNY Canton a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Barr continued his remarkable play turning aside all 16 shots he faced in the second period and closed out the final 20 minutes with eight more saves.

The win is a huge one for the Roos as Fredonia State opened its season with a 3-2 overtime win against Oswego State, who appeared in the NCAA Division III National Championship game last season. The men’s hockey team is back in action when they host back-to-back games against Southern New Hampshire University this weekend at the Roos House. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. Friday and 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
