Women’s Volleyball Shows Support for RPD Officer Daryl Pierson

Canton, NY – The SUNY Canton women's volleyball team wore ribbons and displayed a sign to honor the memory of Rochester Police Department Officer Daryl R. Pierson at their contests this weekend at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational.

Officer Pierson was killed in the line of duty on September 3, 2014. The Roos wore black and blue ribbons on their sneakers during their matches at the Geneseo Invitational and held a sign between their matches on Saturday to honor the officer.

Officer Pierson was hired by the Rochester Police Department on Aug. 21, 2006. He was assigned to the Tactical Unit.
During his eight-year career as a police officer for the City of Rochester, Officer Pierson served with distinction, and received the following awards and commendations:
  • Eleven "Chief's Letters of Recognition", most of which were for removing illegal firearms from the streets of Rochester.
  • The Rochester Police Department's "Officer of the Month Award" for September, 2010; and,
  • The Rochester Police Department's "Good Conduct Award", given to Officer Pierson last year in 2013.
Officer Pierson was also a member of the United States Army National Guard. Pierson, 32, leaves behind a wife and two children, whose ages are 4-years-old and 3-months-old.
