Canton, NY – SUNY Canton student-athletes and coaches participated in Pay it Forward Day as a part of Inauguration Week and NCAA Division III Week on Wednesday. Members of the Roos Athletics Department went around the village of Canton performing different jobs to lend a hand in the community.
Three different projects took place during the morning session beginning at 10:00 a.m. A pair of women's basketball players volunteered their time at the Cornell Cooperative Extension. Athletic department staff and members of the men's basketball and men's soccer teams did a tremendous job clearing the University Plaza by Subway of trash and debris.
Meanwhile, student-athletes on the women's lacrosse and softball teams took to the Canton Pavilion to help with a number of jobs including painting stairwells and helping put up trash cans and picnic tables around the park.
The afternoon session included a group of roughly 25 student-athletes and coaches from the women's hockey, lacrosse and volleyball teams who spent about two hours raking up all of the leaves in the village park.
